So after the Steelers fell to 2-2 some of the loonies came out to say how they were done. Just check out some of the people (Dummies) that called into The Morning Freak Show. I couldn’t disagree more with people who are Hating on the Steelers right now, then again maybe I’m just an apologist. Anyways I never count the Steelers out of any situation and here is why.
Look at some of the names currently on the Steelers roster; Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Troy Polamalu, James Harrison, Maurkice Pouncey. So in a nutshell that is a 2 time Super Bowl winning quarterback, a Super Bowl MVP wide receiver, One of the best up and coming WR in the NFL, last years NFL Defensive MVP, 2008’s NFL Defensive MVP, and a Pro Bowl Center. Even though the team will be without Harrison for “Multiple Weeks”, LT should be able to take over his spot and do an excellent job. How can you count out a team that not only has amazing talent, but also has tons of experience? It’s a simple answer you can’t.
How about a history lesson now, Anyone remember 2005(If you have the Time watch that its amazing) ? Yes they started out 7-2, but they then went on to lose 3 in a row and sat at 7-5. At that point they knew they’d have to win their final 4 games to even make it into the playoffs as the 6th seed. Then being a 6th seed in the NFL playoffs meant nothing they’d probably lose, but they didn’t they defied the odds and won 7 straight games to make it to the Super Bowl which they won. You may be saying that was a different team what do they have to do with this team? Well the main players are still on this team Ben, Troy, Hines, Ike. Anyways the point is they have been in more dire situations than what they are in now and made it out so until they are mathematically out of it I’ll believe in them.
My final reason why I’m not done thinking the Steelers could be Super Bowl Champs this year is, It’s only week 5. Does anyone else realize that IT IS ONLY WEEK 5? It seems no one knows it, but they still have 12 games to play. At this point last year they were 3-1 where is the huge difference, that’s one more win. They lost 2 games yes, but did anyone expect them to go 16-0. Both the games they lost were to good teams. Would this be as bad if these 4 games were at the end of the season and they were already 9-3, no people are freaking out for no reason. I have to admit though at the beginning of the Texans game I was like wow they may be done, but then they came back and showed they aren’t a terrible team and almost won. I mean I don’t believe in moral victories a loss is a loss & a win is a win, but hey to only lose by 7 when you should have lost by a ton is good. Obviously they have some holes but what team doesn’t ? There are no super teams in the AFC right now. I can still see this team going 11-5. Maybe I’m right or maybe I’m wrong, but if I were you I wouldn’t count out the Steelers.
